Introduction

identity theft is a major issue that has been common over the years, this is an extension on the portfolio. Because of online shopping, many people lose their money do credit card theft, and identity theft.

The stakeholders that are involved with this issue are one: the people that use e-commerce and the internet, for example the online shoppers. Another stakeholder is the people that set up the security and safety on the internet itself to try to prevent the issue of identity theft. Another stakeholder is the criminals that are involved with the identity thefts. The person that will interviewed for this part of the portfolio is someone that has experience with this type of issue.

This portfolio addresses the issue of cyber Hacking. Cyber attacks are made to companies, people's personal sites and it can also affect the government. Examples of some cyber attacks are when some people hack into someone's computer, they can steal their files, and place viruses on their computers. Another example is the article "Cyber Assaults on Estonia Typify a New Battle Tactic". (Finn, 2007). This article concentrates on how there are massive cyber attacks on websites of the government, banks, telecommunications companies, internet service providers and news organizations.

This issue would have many limitations. The IT system that is involved with this issue is the internet. This IT system is very important to society. Many businesses around the world use this IT system. Businesses in Estonia use internet to save their data. There are many significant documents that are kept on the computer.

Society is affected by this issue in positive and negative ways. One positive way that it can help society is by solving some crimes. The government or some other organizations, would hack into someone's computer if they believe that they are a suspect. One negative issue is that this can invade people's privacy. Hackers can find personal items on ones' computer or company.

Cyber Hacking can be a very serious problem. Where hackers can find personal items and access very confident information. It can also help solve crimes in many ways which would make society safer.

Criteria C- Online Shopping

Online Shopping can have many impacts on the society. It can have positive impacts as well as negative impacts.

A positive impact on online shopping is that it means less travel time and it can mean that it gives you lower costs; less spending. A positive impact would mean that people would use less paper while shopping online which would mean less trash and less pollution which is important to the environment (Williams, 2007).

A negative impact on online shopping would be the issue of credit card theft and identity theft. Credit card numbers and stolen and many victims suffer. However, giving your credit card details online is no different to handing your card to a shop assistant that you don't know or a waiter you have never met before (Bloch, 2007).

There are many problems with online shopping when it comes to purchasing the item. There are many issues such as high shipping prices, inventory problems, and prices." More than half of the respondents (51 percent) said they abandoned a shopping cart even though they had intended to buy products on the site". Some say " 54 percent of respondents prefer to shop in a physical store because they can understand a product better there, and 76 percent said they were more likely to buy products on a site that helps them do so by offering features such as product zoom, 360 degree product views, and online videos of products in context"(marketing VOX, 2007).

Credit cards is an important component where people can use it online while entering their credit card numbers and buy stuff online that way for business and personal items as well. The internet is also another component for online shopping. There are websites which allow people to shop online such as Amazon and EBay.

Technological developments that lead to online shopping is the fact that you can use the internet and shop by using credit cards which let you purchase items.

They do not have to leave their homes and it is a fast process. However this portfolio addresses the issue of online shopping theft which affects a lot of business and people around the globe. This issue is growing rapidly as now there are a lot of thefts going on in the business world where many people are losing their money, and these victims are becoming furious.
However this situation has a negative side, as said before there are many online thefts which affect a great amount of people in the society. An example of online theft is credit card identity theft which involves business and shoppers around the world.
Two ethical issues that are involved in this situation are privacy and security. It can also be a reliability issue. This is important because primarily security involves the protection of the hardware. When people left put their credit card numbers there can be a lot of theft. Another issue is privacy which is important because people’s privacy and accounts are being disturbed.

Privacy is an important issue with social networking. While using 'Facebook.com', people can see what one person has been doing by checking out the 'News Feeds' and the 'Mini Feeds' section on the website. Before there was an option that would enable you to stop people from seeing what you have been doing; to keep it private, however now there is no such option.
A way to solve any privacy issue for a social network website other than 'Facebook.com' is by having an option when someone is making their profile, or even having facebook, where they can go back and edit their profile for them to keep their profile as a private one so that other than their friends can see what is going on with their profile. This would help the private issue, and the website would be more reliable.
However this could have been asked before for the Facebook people to do, because there is always a way for someone to see someone else's profile; they would need to regulate it more.

Social networking can have many positive impacts on the society and negative impacts.
A positive impact on the society when using social networking is that people can get to know each other through facebook, myspace, HI5 and more. They can make long time friendships. They can also can find their old friends that they have not talked to for a long time Kurt Soller wrote that he kept adding people on his facebook from the university he was going attend at, and when he went after finishing high school, he met all those people that he added. These social networking websites help people interact socially (Soller, 2007).
A negative impact that social networking can impact on the society is that one of the major problems to do with social networking is the things that people post on these websites. Many problems have occurred where people abuse these website and post things that are not meant to be on there. For example where a student intended to get a guard fired, and he posted ideas on Facebook.com where he said that the guard was ' antagonizing students'. The student got expelled. People post hurtful things that can affect others and change their reputation (stone, 2006).
Another negative issue that can affect the society through social networking is a privacy issue. 'Mini feeds' and 'News Feed', these features allow to show users what their friends have been up to, such as adding pictures, items or making comments and much more. These items show other people's privacy, before these feeds would able to prevent people from seeing this information but now there is no option to do so (The Rooster, 2006).

Servers, browsers, databases are 3 components of the internet. Server computers are devices designed to run an application or applications, often for extended periods of time with minimal human direction. Examples of servers include web servers, e-mail servers, and file servers. A browser is a software application used to locate and display web pages. The two most popular browsers are Netscape Navigator, and Microsoft internet. Data bases are used to as a structured collection of records or data that is stored in a computer system so that a computer program or person using a query language can consult it to answer queries. An example of this is facebook(see diagram 2). They keep the information for facebook is that they used databases, server, and browsers.
Three technological developments that led to the internet are that the internet speed keeps improving. Over the past few years, the amount of information available on the internet has increased enormously and there has been a major demand for high-speed internet. Another development is that now people are being able to exchange audio and video communication other than people having to type everything. Now MSN messenger allows people to have video and audio conversations, where they are able to see each other and communicate, where as before they were only able to chat, or see each other (see in diagram 1). Another technological development is the availability of internet is now world wide. A while back, internet was not available everywhere, and there are still some places that internet is not available in, however now there is an increase of demand for the internet, and now everyone around the world can accesses it.
Three technological trends for the future are that the speed will be increasing, because there will be a higher demand for internet speed. Then movies could be available online, legally. You would also be able to communicate online better, by calling (telephone-like communication).

This portfolio addresses the issue of social networking. Social Network sites like myspace, facebook, and much more have captivated millions of users of the internet across the world. An example of this issue in society is When facebook opens to the public and how people with facebook accounts can view other people‘s accounts which would invade their privacy on the net.(“Facebook Opens to Public”,2007).
This issue would have many limitations. The IT system involved with this issue is the internet with the use of a browser. This IT system is important to society in many different ways. For Example, people that use the internet use it do work, to make travel arrangements, and to communicate with others on the net and many other things.
Society is affected is by this IT in positive and negative ways. A positive social or ethical effect related to the IT system is that some people will be able to observe other people’s profiles and private items online. The future direction of people in society will be determined by the choices made about this issue for example, is that facebook could make some regulations to stop this issue from occurring.
Facebook will continue growing in social networking, however if facebook continues to grow, it will need to grow in a positive way, and the way that it can become like that is that it will need to set some restrictions or regulations for it to become a successful and a complete social network.
